The new passengers of the Golden Shark are milling around the Mogán pier. They are about to board and there is a certain expectation in the air. They have some ideas about this submarine journey, but they do not know the real dimension of what they are going to find. Despite this, there are expressions of excitement to be seen on their faces: the desire to experience a real, unique and unrepeatable adventure which far exceeds any hint of fear.
We get on board. The submarine moves placidly in the waters of the Atlantic, like a tour boat on a large lake. Several passengers begin to feel their heart rate beat a little faster than usual, the result of adrenaline, but there is no reason to worry. The boat is in the hands of a very experienced crew, who know the dive zone perfectly.
We dive. The descent is very smooth and the interior of the submarine invites you to relax and feel comfortable in its anatomical individual seats, while the portholes are large windows, inviting you to observe the seabed, which is now brimming with more sea life than ever. A multitude of species of fauna and flora once again invade the navigation area, thanks to several artificial reefs that simulate ancient ruins such as those of classical Greece and whose set of pieces has been called “Atlantis”, alluding to the mythical island narrated in his writings by the famous Greek philosopher Plato.
This natural wonder that appears before our eyes is not the result of chance, but the result of the regeneration on this part of the seabed: an area of 3.000 square metres located in the surroundings of the Puerto de Mogán breakwater and whose project has been initiated by the Atlántida Submarine company, the owners of the Golden Shark.
A trip of 150 metres, at a depth of about 20-25 metres, will allow you to experience one of the most exciting moments of your life and, and at the same time reconnect you with nature by seeing that this time people’s hands have been decisive in restoring a seabed to its original state which was once damaged by people’s actions.
About 40 minutes after leaving the dock, we emerge. And the exit from the submarine to the surface is a new experience in itself that, like the rest of the experienced moments, will remain forever in your memory and you will want to tell family and friends as soon as you have the opportunity.
